Alpaca Apparel Takes British Fibre From Herd to Runway

From a New Forest alpaca herd to milling in Northern Ireland and manufacturing in Leicester, Alpaca Apparel places provenance at the centre of contemporary British luxury.

For Alpaca Apparel, knowing where a garment comes from is fundamental to understanding its value.

The British luxury label creates ultra-limited alpaca loungewear and wraps with complete traceability from fibre to finished garment. Its alpaca is grown from the brand’s own herd in the New Forest, milled in Northern Ireland and manufactured in Leicester.

That chain connects contemporary luxury knitwear directly with British farming, regional manufacturing and specialist craftsmanship.

Recently recognised by the Drapers Conscious Fashion Awards as a One to Watch, Alpaca Apparel brings this philosophy to the runway through its debut collection.

Lounge suits, co-ordinates and relaxed sets are knitted in ultra-fine British alpaca and designed to move easily between home and the wider world. Softness and comfort sit alongside considered construction and understated luxury.

Produced in limited editions using fibre from the brand’s own herd, the collection establishes a proposition in which provenance is not simply a sustainability claim but part of the design itself.

The result is contemporary British knitwear built around the relationship between material, place and the people involved in making it.

Alpaca Apparel presents at 4pm on Sunday 20 September at Devonshire Square, London.
