Gillian Trask Sculpts Jewellery Directly Through Fire in Sculpted in Flame

Gillian Trask creates jewellery by hand-sculpting sterling silver and gold while the metal is in a molten state.

Working directly with fire allows irregularity, movement and the physical traces of transformation to remain visible in every piece.

Rather than pursuing conventional perfection, Trask embraces the raw character of molten metal, connecting material experimentation with wider ideas of energy, empowerment and human imperfection.

The resulting jewellery occupies a space between adornment and sculpture.

For SS27, Sculpted in Flame follows nine feminine archetypes organised around three pillars: the Healer, High Priestess and Warrior, representing restoration, intuition and empowerment.

Chakras, tarot, sacred symbols and personal meditation inform the work, while individual looks represent previous versions of the self and archetypes encountered through a wider journey of transformation.

Through the physical act of melting and sculpting metal, process and concept become inseparable.

Sculpted in Flame introduces Trask’s practice as an artist while exploring jewellery as a vessel for resilience, connection and change.
