SORAMAME Presents Under Construction: A Collection About the Unfinished Self

The Vietnamese fashion house closes the Oxford Fashion Studio London programme with an exclusive SS27 presentation exploring identity as something continually assembled, layered and transformed.

SORAMAME returns to London with Under Construction, a collection built around a deceptively simple idea: there is no finished version of ourselves.

The Vietnamese label creates contemporary womenswear rooted in individuality, craftsmanship and considered production. Guided by the principles of ethical slow fashion, SORAMAME combines mindful production, responsible sourcing and lasting quality with a belief in fashion as personal expression and cultural dialogue.

Its name, meaning “broad bean” in Japanese, reflects the brand’s wider interest in growth and continual evolution.

For SS27, that idea becomes deeply personal.

Under Construction proposes that every previous version of ourselves remains within the next. Childhood exists beneath adulthood, fear beneath confidence and softness beneath discipline. Nothing is erased; experience is accumulated, layered and rearranged.

SORAMAME translates the concept through silhouettes moving between sportswear, tailoring, eveningwear, romance and utility. These are not treated as separate aesthetics, but as different layers of the same evolving person.

Sportswear becomes eveningwear. Protection becomes elegance.

As forms and functions shift, the collection reflects a body and identity in continual transition.
